Tim Cousin

Tim Cousin is originally from Annecy in the French Alps. After studying applied arts in France, he did a BSc.Arch at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland, and spent his last year of Bachelor as a visiting student at the University of Tokyo.

Before coming to MIT, Tim collaborated with several architecture offices in Japan, Switzerland, Denmark, and Australia, developing a particular interest in wood construction, computational design, and digital fabrication.

Since he engaged in the MArch program, Tim started to investigate narratives of material resources in the built environment. He has been a research assistant at the Block Research Group at ETH Zurich and currently with Digital Structures at MIT.

In 2019, Tim co-founded ROOFSCAPES with two other MIT students. The venture, initially incubated at MIT DesignX, aims to deploy green and accessible surfaces over the pitched roofs of historical urban centers and is currently working in partnership with the city of Paris.
